During the VI Congress of the Association of Organization Psychologists there was a presentation of the research team, implementing the grant project VT Flow and effectiveness of the virtual team. The congress took place 12.09 to 14.09 on the premises of the Institute of Psychology at the University of Lodz.

“Different or the same? New Challenges in the Work Environment” was the theme of the event, and key issues included diversity and the importance of new technologies in the work context.

The presentation by the team represented by Dr. Anita Pollak, Prof. of the University of Lodz, and Piotr Klimowicz, M.A., titled, “The new challenges in the work environment. “The common language of success: Collective Communication in Virtual Teams and its Relationship to Team Effectiveness,” was a contribution to the area related to technology. Presented were the results of research on a group of employees of virtual teams from Poland and Germany (N = 428). Questionnaires were used to measure variables related to team communication and effectiveness in the broadest sense.

The results made it possible to determine predictors among communication variables for various dimensions of effectiveness. The results may allow a better understanding of the relationships of the studied phenomena and, in the long term, inspire the development of a set of good practices in communication, grounded in the research, that foster higher team effectiveness. The presentation also foreshadowed future activities of the team, including in particular: the development of the results of the experiment, aimed at even better understanding of the studied phenomena. The presentation was part of the session “Professional Development and Efficiency”.

The project is carried out in cooperation with the University of Lübeck and is co-financed by the National Science Center within the framework of the “BEETHOVEN CLASSIC 4” competition.
